In Fiji, Christmas is closely tied to the celebration of Christ’s birth — siga ni sucu literally means “the day of birth.” Because there is no traditional Fijian word that directly translates to “Christmas,” families naturally use siga ni sucu to honour both the holiday and its spiritual significance.
