Behind the design “Tava’e Bird”
This design is inspired by a Samoan proverb:
“E mamae le tava‘e i ona fulu” The tava‘e bird takes pride in its feathers. The tava’e is one of Samoa’s most beautiful birds. Known for its white and exceptionally long central tail feathers. It is not only admired for their beauty, but deeply desired as symbols of honour and prestige. Just like the tava‘e takes pride in its feathers, we can take pride in our culture — because knowing where we come from gives us strength, confidence, and purpose. This design is a reminder to honour your roots and carry them with pride — just like the sacred feathers of the tava‘e bird, worn as a symbol of heritage and connection.
